I know, I am a terrible blogger...sorry for the sporadic posts over the past month or so! All of my time has been put towards planning the trip my mother and I are taking to France and London. I leave in a few hours, so I must say goodbye for the next two and half weeks. Although I have to admit I am more nervous than usual because of the Air France crash, and the fact that the two Americans used to live in my town.
Anyways, I will definitely have lots of pictures to post when I return. And hopefully then I will be able to get this blog back to how it used to be.

Finally, I have the time to actually return to blogging, as school is beginning to wind down (two more weeks!). It is also a three day weekend for me, and so far I have spent the day doing absolutely nothing, besides relaxing with tea and a cupcake..

I apologize for the two week gap between posts; I will hopefully get a new up this weekend. Lately everything has been revolving around standardized tests and research papers, but after May 14 (the AP test..) it should all level out again.

Picking up Where I Left off

I am returning...finally. I have been meaning to for awhile now, but most of my time has been spent focusing on school, reviewing for the AP test, and completing driving (which I am now finished with as of last Saturday; it is the best feeling).

Anyways, going back to the title, here are the lace tights I posted back in January, when they were new. These are from awhile ago, but you will have to excuse the photographs, as I haven't been able to shoot anything decent over the past few months.

A better + longer post is to be expected for next week. This one is not much, but I am happy to have finally returned to blogging.

P.S. Please always remember to drive safely. A boy in my year was tragically killed recently, and it has been really hard to see the toughest of guys crying and having friends break down in the middle of class. I definitely have a new perspective on life now. Please never take anything for granted.

This is short as I have finals all this week, and I kind of need to stick to at least one of my new years' resolutions.

I took this for my father's Indian friend, Vasoo, at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris when I was eleven. A few nights before my family had dinner with him in Germany and he told a story of him being an exchange student in Louisiana. He claimed to have wrestled an alligator while there, which shocked everyone as he is no taller than 5'2".

I've been tagged again! This time by Micaela, to post six more things that make me happy:

1. Collages. I made the first one in art last year for my final project, which had to be themed (French, quite obviously..to go with my room). And then the second is from a few days ago.

Does anyone know a site that can pictures big when you click on them? Photobucket doesn't do that.

2. Traveling and planning trips. I promised myself when I was 8 years old that I would travel the world and I am going to do just that.

3. Fields of flowers. In Italy when we stayed in the countryside I wanted to take off my shoes and run endlessly through the sunflowers. (And then to also film it with a piece by Yann Tiersen or Dario Marianelli playing in the background.)

4. Shooting film and printing the darkroom. That's actually two, but I can't wait to get back into the darkroom, sometime this month, and then every Saturday through April or May.

5. Teacups.

These photographs make me want to shoot with my grandfather's small Minolta that he passed down. I haven't ever used it because it takes 16mm film, which I would somehow have to cut down from 35mm. Anyways, I hope to do something like this project when I possibly go back to Massachusetts this summer, where I consider myself from.

2008 is almost over...I can't really believe it. This year went by much too fast.

Anyways, I am finally back from Florida and so Happy (belated) Christmas/Holidays.
Mine was quite nice; we had fondue on Christmas Eve, which I might mention is kind of a competitive thing in my family, and then opened presents. On Christmas Day the rest of my cousins came over for dinner and we spent the night playing games while watching Christmas movies and eating Christmas tree cookies.

One of the gifts I received is a new 50mm lens for my film camera, so most of the pictures I took are on that.
But, here are some from a few weeks ago that I never posted and experimented with.

I made this black and white through a long and complicated process on CS4, which I also received for Christmas. I still have a lot to learn.

Another, experimenting with curves.

I don't like this all that much, but I kind of like how the processing turned out.

And then this one, which I spent awhile editing and I still don't really like it, as my arm looks fake.

In history we have been discussing the World Wars and every time World War II is mentioned, I can't help but think back to Atonement. Even if it isn't entirely accurate, it is has historical significance and is beautiful (I hope to read the book sometime soon).
My mind always seems to wander back to the past, leaving me with all of these questions as to how present society has become so boring, yet beyond complicated. In each historical film I watch, the dialogue is well composed and the characters sound so sincere when they speak. Evidently it has been thought out by the writers, but that is the way people used to converse with one another. And then to compare it to how we speak now...it kind of fascinates me. People actually use "lol" in a sentence when they talk and words are overused to the point where the true meaning is drowned in itself; vocabulary is so limited.
What the fuck has happened?
(This is entirely hypocritical of me, but I will have you know that I do not use words like the one mentioned above when speaking.)
Technology has outrun all of us and we simply conform. Most people would not dare to recite a complex sentence, especially when they can just use "I love.." over and over. Nobody listening would notice anything about that, which truly says something.

I don't know...I am rather sick and somewhat humiliated at the thought of our society at the moment.
I will give a million dollars to whoever invents a successful time machine?

Photographs taken underwater have always fascinated me. I love the gorgeous flowing dresses and how everything appears so delicate. The ability to float with the support of the water to fall back against...the bubbles, the transparency, and how light travels through the water to produce something completely unpredictable.

I'm not so sure as to who this editorial is by, or where it was featured, but it is too beautiful to leave out.

Updates have been quite infrequent over the past month, but that will/should change soon.
I haven't really had much time for photography lately either, but I begin another darkroom class in January, so I will once again be able to develop, print and smell of chemicals.

Expect another post within a week or so..

An update...finally. I haven't really had anything to post about these past few weeks besides a rant or two about school, from which I refrained.

Anyways, Betsey of Una Bella Vita tagged with the ABC Tag awhile ago (created byMila, of Loveology).

Remembrance
All of these photographs were my grandfather's, who fought in Vietnam. He gave my father some boxes before he died containing hundreds of pictures like these, which I decided to put into a photo album when I was little.

No not literally, but I have managed to escape to my own world these past few days, which has been quite nice. I must mention an Icelandic group I came across called Parachutes, whose sound is similar to that of Sigur Ros. I already love them, but click on the link to find out for yourself.

I keep listening to this song over and over; The semi-electronic beats and the strings are a beautiful combination amongst the haunting lyrics. I suppose ever since my mother forced me into the orchestra in fifth grade (I played the cello), I have developed a greater appreciation for strings..?

Anways, last night I decided to stay up and watch the sunrise again, since school starts in exactly a week. I ended up slipping out the window onto the roof and saw a mother and baby deer feeding behind the fence in "the ditch!" It was almost magical and I decided that I need to take my tripod back there sometime, even if I do have a fear of snakes. And once I awoke hours later, it rained all day, so I decided to stay inside and shoot some pictures with my new lace knee highs and tights that came last week. The last few are inspired by that "You are Beautiful" photo project that I'm sure many of you have seen.

If only I hadn't left my Polaroid camera in Florida...

I've decided to hold off posting the rest of my new purchases for now, partly because I still have yet to receive some. Look for them next post, though.

Anyways, I arrived home last night from Florida, where I have been for the last two and a half weeks. It went by all too fast and summer has wasted away, leaving me with less than two weeks until school.
In preparation for the school year, I ordered all of my clothing online before I left , so there were quite a few packages blocking the door to my room (pictures to come soon.) Also waiting for me was my new Bogen 3001 tripod! ...meaning I will never have to use that $25 video camera tripod, that doesn't support my camera, ever again.

I have been stuck inside all day, as it has been dark and rainy ever since I woke up. I kind of like days like these, once and awhile, but I was planning on spending today outside, which obviously couldn't happen. Instead, I watched the original The Office and took a few pictures, even though I probably should have been packing, since I leave again tomorrow for Florida. My next two weeks will be spent there, and I will return home on the eleventh, only a week before school starts. I am bringing my computer this time, so as long as I can connect to their wireless, I should still be able to post.

Anyways, I haven't posted a decent outfit in a few weeks...or months, so I finally took a couple of pictures of what I am wearing today.

The scarf isn't nearly as bright, that's just the setting I had my camera on.

"A Picture Says A Thousand Words"

I still remember the quote "A picture says a thousand words" from The Princess Diaries (although I'm sure The Queen wasn't the first to say this). Might I add "even if the other words are in French" to the end?

Yes, this is about Paris Vogue, my new favorite magazine.

After arriving in Paris a few weeks ago, I had to stop and buy Paris Vogue. People always claim that it is much better than American Vogue (and it is, by the way), so I found a bookstore, paid six or eight Euros, and threw it in my suitcase before walking to my next gate. Yesterday I finally had a chance to flip through it and I was/still am amazed. I want to carefully cutout every page (minus the nudes) and put them all over my wall.
The photographs are stunning and very inspirational, not just aesthetically, but in a different way. I can hardly be classified as being able to speak French, but even though I can't read the captions off to the side or understand the title of the editorial, I can still grasp the thought and meaning through the photograph; it says a thousand words.

My favorite photographs are part of a twelve page spread called "Le Chant Des Sirènes" shot by none other than the amazing Patrick Demarchelier.

Let's face it, French Vogue makes American Vogue look like one of Cinderella's ugly stepsisters.
If anyone would like to lend me $124 for a subscription, that would be much appreciated..

Back, If Only For Awhile

I'm finally home for the next eight days (then it's off to Florida), after spending almost twelve hours on a plane yesterday. I love how the guy at U.S. customs always says "welcome home" when he sees my passport, as cheesy as it sounds. It feels kind odd hearing everyone around me speak English and not having to ask anyone for translations. I actually started to pick up on some Italian, with my three years of Spanish helping out in some situations.
Anyways, this is probably one of a few posts of photos from my trip to come, so without further ado..

Unfortunately I lost my second memory card near the end of the trip, so all of my Collesium, Cinque Terre and most of my Umbria/Tuscany pictures are gone. Luckily I still have a few polaroids from those places, so it isn't all that bad?

Goodbye For Two Weeks

I leave in a few hours, but I figured I would post some photos.
My darkroom class is officially over and I stayed late yesterday to print the rest of my negatives. I developed another roll of film, but I think someone took it home by mistake, so I just printed what was left of the other two rolls.

Four. Three. Two. One!

Only four more days until I board that plane and get out of this hot and boring place I call home.
In the meantime, I have been in the darkroom twice more this week and I actually developed two rolls of film all by myself. We developed our first roll as a class last week (all I did was agitate the bucket you place the reels in for ten seconds), but this week I had to stay after and rely on the vague directions posted on the wall. No, I did not test the water to make sure it was 68 degrees, although I knew it was a lot warmer than that, nor did I agitate for the required amount of seconds. Despite my lack of following directions, they still came out, and I felt more confident not having to rely on other people to do things for me.
Anyways, the extent of my creativity at 8am:

I learned an important lesson: Don't wear shorts in the darkroom. The fix spilled down my leg and I didn't smell too pleasant for the rest of the day..

I've been tanning, as you can see..

The hat isn't really part of the outfit, but I have been wearing it a lot lately. I'm not sure why.
Half of what I'm wearing, including the hat, has been found around my house. The dress is my mother's pleated skirt, found in a closet, and the hat was found in the laundry room.
I might mention the crochet scarf looks much better in person. It's ivory/almost a bit khaki in color.

Lastly, A few more prints. I want to post a few of the ones I took last week while wearing my mother's poofy bridal slip, but whoever was nice and put them through the drier had chemicals on their hands and messed them up.

Long Time, No Updates

It feels like I haven't posted in forever, even though it has only been nine days. Between my photography class and playing travel agent trying to plan our trip to Italy, I haven't had too much time. I think I said we might go to Asia a few posts back...well that somehow turned into Italy, but I am just as excited. Only 2 more weeks!
Anyways, I went to North Park Center this past weekend to get some new clothing for the trip.
I kind of surprised myself and bought a lot of things that I normally wouldn't.

Sorry for the pictures; most of them were taken in my brother's old room and it was kind of cloudy today. I don't like using artificial light.

Possibly a swim cover-up?

This was my first print, but I messed up I messed up putting the paper in the easel, so it has that black border.

He told me to redo it and it came out right.
